2012 Graduation from YSU

This is not a crafting post but a very proud mom post.  Our oldest son graduated with his BSAS in Computer Information System from Youngstown State University on Sunday.  We are so very very proud of him.  Now I have one more to go.  I remember my little baby in the hospital when he was born now he is a man.  I hope he looks back on these times as some of the best.  Now that all this is over for now I will be completing Part #3 of the Bill Organizer.

Monthly Bills Organizer

I made this on the order of my Rolodex Mini Album.  I wanted somewhere other than a file filder to store my bills in and thought a larger version of the Rolodex Mini Album would work, and it did.  After I made it I thought that it would also work great for the cards that I want to send out.  I added the drawer to hold the things that I need for paying my bills and mailing out cards.  I'm also going to add a book of stamps for mailing things out.  I'm happy with how it turned out.

Toilet Paper Roll Gift Card/Money Holder

I woke up this morning with this idea on my mind, so after I fed the animals I gave it a try and this is what I came up with.  These are toilet paper rolls that are flattened, painted the edges then decorated with paper, stickers and die cuts.  Add a pull out tag and there you have it, a gift card or money holder.  These would also make great holders for birthdays or graduation gifts.

Updated Craftroom 2012

I wanted to share with you what I have reorganized so far, still have a little bit more left to do and hope to share it with you soon.  My best advise  for organizing is to put like things together and to make sure everything is labeled and everything has a home.

Basic Copic Marker Care

I wanted to share with you how I clean, mark and refill my Copic markers.  Everyone has their own way of cleaning and refilling, this is just the way that I feel is the easiest.  I purchased the 91% Isopropyl Alcohol at Walmarts and WalGreens.  The Duct tape is by 3M.  Remember that the dried ink could flake off your marker and stain you project you are working on.

High School Mini Album

A friend asked if I would make a mini album for her niece for her senior year and here is what I came up with.  I hope she likes it.  She is giving it to her for her birthday.  It is a chipboard mini album, made using Kathy Orta's Hidden Hinge Binding.  I use this method for almost every mini album.

2012 Christmas Cards 9-12

Here are 4 more cards that I completed for my 2012 Christmas cards.  I tried to make all the cards a little different with different techniques.  I am have a bunch of fun making my cards this year, I guess its because I started early and there is no rush to get them done.  I don't send out as many as I did before so that also helps.

My Copic Coloring Notebook

This is my version of a Copic Coloring Notebook.  I had made the smaller one that I saw on youtube but found that I didn't use it that much mainly due to the size, I aldo did not need a lot of the added pages, I just wanted something to use for my coloring and notes at a size that I like and this is what I came up with.  I keep it in my bag with I markers and it is there when ever I want to color.  I'm going to stamp up a lot of images (even full ones) and when ever I want to just color it is ready.  It is like a Smash Book for my coloring.

Here are 2 more of my 2012 Christmas Cards with the simple background.  The first card is made using the Inkadinkado Stamping Gear, and the second one has a Magnolia stamped image colored with Copic markers.  I am also trying not to buy anything to make these cards but to use up what I already have.

Thin Die Storage

I wanted to share with you the new way that I am storing my thin dies.  I used the same scrap saver pockets as I did for my stamps.  I also found the vent covers that I am using at The Dollar Tree.   These are great and for $1.00 they can't be beat.

Martha Stewart - Stamp Around the Page

I wanted to share with you my new toy.  A local store called Pat Catans is having a Martha Stewart 50% off sale and saw these.  Had never heard of them before so at that price I decided to give them a try.  It took a few tries to figure it out but once you get it, it is really simple to do.  This is so much fun to play with.

2012 Christmas Cards 4-6

Wanted to share with you a few more cards that I completed for this year.  I am having so much fun making these cards with the simple backgrounds.  You don't have to use a stamped colored image on the front, it could be a diecut or a sticker.  Just have fun at it.

2012 Christmas Card #3

This is another in my series of simple Christmas cards that I made for 2012.  It is a 5 1/2" square card.  I colored the Magnolia stamped image with Copic markers.  I used a Inkadinkado stamp to create the tree background,  these stamps are wonderful to create easy backgrounds.  I love how you can take these stamps and a little imagination to make a great background.

New Copic Marker Storage Bag

Wanted to share with you my new Copic Marker Storage bag.  It the a bag that is used to transport a CPAP medical equipment.  I found the bag online then called our local medical supply store and and found it there.  Very simular to the Copic Carry Case (mine is a little smaller), but no way close in price.  I so love my bag and it worked out great to carry my markers when going to different appointments.  I even used the case (closed) to do my coloring on.

2012 Christmas Cards #2

This is my card #2.  I used Washi tape that was purchased from Target in a 4 roll pack.  I added ribbon and a bow to the front of this card.  I cut out a Magnolia stamped image and used foam dots to give it some added dimension.  I also stamped a poinsettia flower using the Inladinkado Stamping Gear then cut it out and added stickles.  This new toy (Stamping Gear) is a bunch of fun.

Wanted to share with you the results at I had using the different papers with the Copic markers.  There are many more papers and each person has their favorite.  I am not certified but wanted to share.  My suggestion would be to try several different papers and see what works best for you.  Maybe if you have a friend with different paper do a share with what you have (it could be 1 sheet).  Have fun crafting.

I wanted to share with you a gift that I made for my niece.  It is a mini album with a matching box.  The box was not as hard to make as I thought it would be.  I really like this idea for a vacation album because it can hold all the little goodies that you may find.  Going to have to make one for myself.

SOC's Hot Fun in the Summertime Blog Hop

This weekend marks the official start of summer--days filled with a little travel, fun, and relaxation with family and friends! So to celebrate, I, along with some talented crafters, have teamed up to share projects that display summer fun! Of course, a blog hop isn't complete without blog candy! There will be giveaways on various blogs throughout the hop! Plus there will be a SOC blog hop gift awaiting one visitor!! To be eligible for that prize, you must comment on all the blogs by Mon, June 25 at 11pm EST. From all who are eligible, one lucky reader will be randomly drawn. The winner will be posted on all the participating blogs on Wed, June 27.

For my project I decided to make a Toilet Paper Roll Mini Album.  This is my first attempt at making one.
What I did first was to flatten out five rolls, then I inked the edges and covered them with patterned paper.  I made covers from chipboard and covered them with the same patterned  paper.  I used the Cinch to bind my book.

This is the chipboard cover for my Toilet Paper Roll Mini Album.  I think that this album would made a great mini for a day at the beach.

The inside holds five holders with tags.   Each holder has a place for pictures.

On the back of each pullout is a place to journal and a place for a picture on the other side.

This was really fun and easy to make.  I will be making more.

Now for my blog candy I have an assortment of different items.  To win all you have to do is leave a comment and a way of contacting you.  You do not need to be a follower to win.  The winner will be chose on Tuesday night and be posted on Wednesday June 27, 2012.

12 Tags of 2012 - May

This is my version of Tim Holtz May tag for his 12 Tags of 2012.

The tag was cut using the Tim Holtz Alterations "Tag & Bookplates" die.  I used some Mulberry paper to cover the tag, first I crumbled the paper then inked it with distressed ink. The thread spool is from his "Sewing Room" die, I cut three from chipboard and applied foam squares in between each layer them wrapped it with Hemp.  Hot glued some silk flowers on it.  I stamped the dress form and the ruler from The Girls Paperie "Paper Girl".  The charm was made using the Epiphany Crafts round charm setting.

The first page has a 5x7 mat and a place to put the names of her and her date.  I used the Martha Stewart Punch-around-the -page border punch "Swirling Lace".   The butterflies were cut using another Martha Stewart punch " Monarch Butterfly".  The roses were made using the Tim Holtz die " Tattered Pinecone" and the leaves were cut using his Alterations die "Mini Branch & Leaf Set".  The small white roses are the $1 ones from Michaels.  The letters were cut using the Cricut and the "Plantin Schoolbook" cartridge.

I added black rhinestones to this page.  The letters and butterflies were cut out with glittered cardstock.  I used a metallic marker to make the butterfly trail.  I also added black "Bead in a Bottle" behind the butterfly wings to make them stand out.

I Love School Mini Album

This is a mini album that I made using 9X12 envelopes.  I used Cathy Orta's "Hidden Hinge Binding".  I have found that this binding works great with the albums that I like to make.  This album measures about a 9 1/2" square.

12 Tags of 2012 - April

This is my version of Tim Holtz April 12 Tags of 2012.

I didn't have anything except the ink for this one.  The tag was cut using the Sizzix "Tim Holtz Alterations die - Tag & Bookplates".  I didn't have the background stamp so I used a paper with writing.  I didn't have embossing folder so I used  2 Spellbinders Nestabilities, "Scalloped Ovals".  The branch was cut from Tim Holtz Alterations "Mini Branch & Leaf Set" die, I cut two and glued them end to end.  The bird was cut from Tim Holtz Alterations "Caged Bird" die.  I used several different ink colors.  It was fun trying to figure out what to use for this one.  Really liked using all the different inks and blending them together.

Birthday Banner

This is a banner that I made for a special little lady for her 6th birthday. She loves the books "Fancy Nancy", so she is having a "Fancy Nancy" birthday party.

The banner was made using the Cricut and the Gypsy, The banner triangle was cut using the "Mother's Day 2010" cartridge, the flowers were cut using the "Mother's Day Bouquet" cartridge, and the letters were cut using the "Hello Kitty Font" cartridge. Her name is also in the banner (wanted to keep it private). The images used was from the Making Memories "Fancy Nancy" diecut package. Can't wait for her to see it.

Senior Year Play layout

This is a 2-page layout I made for my GN, she is in a play called "The Diviner's". I don't know much about this play except it took place awhile ago so I used the lace and pearls on this one.

The font I used is from a Cricut's Gypsy Font. I used dimensional to pop the letters out. The center flower was made using the McGill's punch "Star Lily". The bottom of each photo mat was punched using the Martha Stewart border punch "Embroidery". I added ribbon and flat back pearls.

Box Double Mini Album

This is a mini album that I made following "creativecafegirl"'s youtube channel. She does some great work. I found this to be a very easy and fun mini to make. The paper was some paper that I found on clearance at Michaels and knew when I saw it that I had to make a mini for this paper.

This is the outside front of the mini. The paper is by K&Company called Susen Winget Speciality Paper.

This is on the inside of the outer flap. I did not decorate it until I decide what pictures I want to put in it.

This is one of the mini albums I used a butterfly theme inside and out.

This is the 2nd mini album. The outside is covered with dragonflies so I added a dragon fly to the inside.

This video shows more of the mini.

Senior Year Layout #2

This is another layout for my great-nieces senior book. She was in their school play "Cinderella". I wanted to have several places for pictures.

This is a 2 page 12x12 layout. The images were cut using the Gypsy and the Cricut with the "Disney - Princesses Happily Ever After", and the title was cut using " Blackletter" cartridge. The edge for the photo mats were cut using the EK "Diamond Lace" border punch.

Senior Year Layouts #1

My niece asked is I would help with making my great-niece a scrapbook for her senior year of high school. She will be graduating from Independence High School in Columbus Ohio this June.

The first page I think will be her opening page of her book. Their colors are red, white and blue. Their mascot is the 76er. I used a printed background and added Stickles to the fireworks. I found the 76er and printed it out on white cardstock, then added glitter using the Spica marker. The letters were cut using the Gypsy and the Cricut. The cartridge used was Base Camp.

For homecoming she and her date wore black and silver. I made a 2 page layout for this one. On the first page the flowers were made using several methods. I used the Cricut, the Slice, and different punches. The letters were cut with the Gypsy and Cricut from the Base Camp cartridge. The photo mat was cut using the Martha Stewart punch-around-the-page "Swirling Lace".

The second page I added butterflies using the Martha Stewart punch "Monarch Butterfly" and the Movers and Shapers die "Mini Butterflies Sets". I added a bead of Beads in a Bottle under the wings to make the wings stand up. The flourishes were cut from glitter paper using Tim Holtz Alterations die "Elegant Flourishes" and Sizzix die "Flourish". I also cut the edges of the mats with the Crop-A-Dile Corner Chopper "Deco" edge.

Birthday Layout

These are two layouts that I made using my page kits. This made making these pages so fast and fun to make. This is a method that I will continue to use. Today I'm going to make up the embellishments needed for the other kits that I already have made up.

12 Tags of 2012 - March

This is my March tag for Tim Holtz 12 Tags of 2012.

The tag was cut using the Sizzix "Tim Holtz Alterations die - Tag & Bookplates". I did not have a woodgrain stamp but I did have the Sizzix "Tim Holtz Alterations Texture Fades Embossing Folder - Woodgrain". So I embossed the tag then inked with Ranger "Tim Holtz Distressed Ink - Vintage Photo". I was unable to stamp my sentiment on the embossed tag so I stamped it, inked it and cut it out before I applied it to the tag. The butterflies were made using Tim's method for mosaic. I did not have the metal flowers so I just added flowers and a brad. This was a fun one to make.

12 Tags of 2012 - February

This year Tim Holtz has decided to retire his 12 Tags of Christmas and instead made the 12 Tags of 2012. Each month he will have a new tag with new techniques. This is the 1st but January will be included in March to play catch up. I like this a lot. This will allow me to work on other things along with my tags. Here is my take on his February tag.

The tag was cut from Sizzix Tim Holtz Alterations die "Tag & Bookplates" with cardstock that I covered with scrapbooking paper, the edges were inked with Festive Berries Distressed Ink. I cut the cupid and hearts out with the Cricut. The hearts were cut in three different sizes then I added a pop dot in between each one. I added white home made tissue tape around a chipboard heart then added the cardstock hearts. The cupid was cut from grunge board, inked and Stickles added at the end. The bottom borders were cut with two different border punched, a Fiskers Heart border and a EK Scalloped Scallop border punch. The letters were stickers that were applied to cardstock then trimmed and inked. Can't wait to see what is next.

Make Your Own Scrapbook Page Kit

I have neglected my scrapbooks lately and wanted to get back into them so I printed off a ton of prints from Walgreens. Then I thought now what to do, so I decided to make up kits for my many events. First I separated the pics and placed them in bags, then I added the paper and embellishments.

Her is a picture of how I store them.

This video shows the process.
